Information about the women's Cell :
 
The Women’s Cell of S.F.S. College was established in August 1998. This was done as per the instruction of the National Commission for Women, set up under the National Commission for Women Act 1990. The circular was based on the guidelines drawn up following the Supreme Court judgment on sexual harassment at workplace, 1992. The circular included guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court and emphasized protection of women against such harassment and the right to work with dignity.
 

The goals and objectives of the Forum are as follows.

 
  • Empowerment of women
  • Prevent gender discrimination and sexual harassment
  • Awareness of legal rights
  • Value Education
  • To spread awareness of AIDS
  • Health education for villagers
  • Promoting scientific temperament
  • Harmonious balance between career and home
  • Promoting gender harmony, gender sensitivity and gender justice amongst all SFS employees and students
  • To promote women’s development within the college.
The Main Functions of the Cell are:
 
  • Organize health awareness programmes such as stress-control or prevention of AIDS.
  • Organize socially relevant programmes such as child care.
  • Organize seminar / workshops on legal rights of women.
  • Organize programmes with the basic objective of increasing awareness in women and developing their personality.
Activities around the year
 
The activities of the women's cell are conducted in three phases.
 
Phase I : - Staff and student of college visit the slum and work towards its upliftment .

Phase II - Glimpses into the other world , the staff and student collect old cloths ,books , medicines, sweets etc and distribute them to the poor.

Phase III -
The forum organizes talks and seminars by experts on various subjects like Career Guidance, preserving youthful looks and good health Developing one's personality, which is the currency of an individual which can buy anything in the world.
 
Activities During 2004-2005
 
  • The Women`s Cell activities for the year 2004-2005 were inaugurated by Mrs. Sarita Sahastrabuddhe at 1.10 P.M. in the coppel hall S.F.S.College Seminary hills Nagpur.
  • The topic of her speech was “Yeh Meri Life Hai”, She inspired the girls students to improve their personality and act according to their capacity and wish.
Activities During 2005-2006
 
  • The Women`s Cell activities were inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Anthony D’Souza, under his supervision the members of the Women’s Cell and the students visited the nearby slum area and distributed medicines, books and clothes to the poor children The hygienic importance was also explained to the slum dwellers.
  • The Women`s Cell for the academic year 2006-2007 was inaugurated on 19-09-2006. Dr. Sapna Sharma renowned HRD expert of the city was the chief guest for the occasion.
Activities During 2007-2008
 
  • Women`s Cell `activities for the academic session 2007-2008 were inaugurated on 22nd, September, 2007. at 1.00 p.m. in the Coppel Hall of the college, by famous Gynaecologist Dr. Mrs. Mangala Ghisad. She delivered a lecture on the topic “ Be Confident and know yourself ”.
  • An Essay Competition was conducted on 19 / 12 /2007.
  • On 20 /12 /2007 the Women’s Cell concducted poster competition.
  • The valedictory function of `Women’ s Cell ‘ was held on Friday , 15 / 02 2008 . The girl students and ladies staff of S.F.S. college visited ‘SHANTI BHAVAN ASHRAM of MOTHER TERESA.
