Scope of the subject :
After completing graduation, student can appear for various competitive examinations like Indian Forest Services, Indian Administrative Services conducted by UPSC. He/she can also go for higher courses like M.Sc (Botany), M.Sc (Biotechnology), M.Sc (Molecular Biology), M.Sc (Genetics).
Amongst the careers available to a person who enjoys outdoors are positions as an ecologist, taxonomist, conservationist, forester. Person with mathematical background might find biophysics, genetics, developmental biology to be exciting fields. Someone with an interest in chemistry might become a plant physiologist, plant biochemist, molecular biologist or chemotaxonomist. Student can also choose biotechnology, microbiology, mycology and phycology. Student can also opt for ornamental horiculture and landscape design. Student can obtain specialization in plant breeding, plant pathology, agronomy, and horiculture.Teaching botany is challenging and rewarding career.
Some botanist work in marketing or administration of plant related industries such as pharmaceutical companies, seed companies, biotechnology firms, scientific publishers and biological supply houses. Other plant biologists work in museums, herbaria and botanical gardens. Some with additional training become scientific writers, computer programmers and botanical illustrators.

- Paper II - Bryophyres, Pteridophytes and Cytology
- Paper III - Cell biology and Genetics.
B.Sc. II - Theory - Three Papers (40 marks each)
- Paper I - Seed plant diversity : Structure and Reproduction
- Paper II - Angiosperm
Systematic
- Paper III - Structure and Development in flowering plants.
B.Sc. III - Theory - Three Papers (40 marks each)
- Paper I - Plant Physiology
- Paper II - Ecology
- Paper III - Biochemistry, Biotechnology and utilization of plants.
Practical based on theory syllabi. 30 marks each for B.Sc. I, II and III.
Duration of the Course :
It is a grant-in-aid undergraduate course affiliated to Rashtasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University. Approved by Government of Maharashtra and recognized by UGC under 2f and 12b.
The course is of the Three duration. Examinations are conducted annually by R. T. M. Nagpur University.

Research Activity of the Department :
16 research publications to credit in national and International Journals. Presented research papers in National and International conferences. Latest paper presentation in Thirteenth National Conference on Aerobiology organized by Botany Dept., Institute of Science in January, 2005 Dr. S. P. Landge also has one patent to his credit.
